Apple Event: Apple announce the iPhone 13 Pro lineup with 120Hz ProMotion Super Retina XDR display.

Apple announced their new iPhone Pro lineup with the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Both models have a Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion featuring an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz, macro photography on the Ultra Wide camera and up to 2.2x improved low-light performance on the Wide camera. Both models now include Night mode on all cameras. Video now has Cinematic mode for depth-of-field transitions, macro video, Time-lapse and Slo-mo, and low-light performance. Both models also offer end-to-end pro workflows in Dolby Vision, and ProRes. iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max also include 5G and double base storage with four variants starting at 128GB all the way to 1TB.

iPhone 13 Pro

The Wide camera has a larger sensor to capture less noise and faster shutter speeds across lighting conditions. Coupled with the larger ƒ/1.5 aperture, the Wide camera on iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max offers an improvement in low-light situations, up to 2.2x when compared to iPhone 12 Pro, and nearly 1.5x when compared to iPhone 12 Pro Max. Sensor-shift optical image stabilization (OIS) is available on both models, stabilizing the sensor instead of the lens.

The Ultra Wide camera features a wider ƒ/1.8 aperture and a new autofocus system, which according to Apple, brings a 92 percent improvement for low-light environments. The new lens design now includes macro photography for the Ultra Wide camera.

The pro camera system on iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max features an Ultra Wide camera with autofocus which enables macro photography, a Wide camera, and a Telephoto camera with increased 3x optical zoom.

The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are protected by the Ceramic Shield front cover and a 20 percent smaller notch area to house the TrueDepth camera system. The Pro lineup is IP68 rated for.water resistance.

Regarding the battery life, both models have a larger battery. According to Apple, the iPhone 13 Pro will last up to one and a half hours longer in a day than iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max will last up to two and a half hours longer in a day than iPhone 12 Pro Max.
