OnePlus introduced their first midrange phone called OnePlus Nord last year. It came as a surprise to many as we were used to only seeing flagships being unveiled and it had seemed that it will stay that way but so far not only have they launched one Nord phone but four of them. That is OnePlus Nord, Nord N10, Nord N100 and now there latest which was unveiled today, the OnePlus Nord CE. As per OnePlus, the first Nord became the best selling phone globally in its first quarter after launch and the best selling phone during India Amazon Prime Day.
CE generally stands for Core Edition which as per OnePlus team is bringing quality specs on a phone at a price that is convenient for everyone. The main focus here was the display, battery, performance and cameras but not compromising on pricing.
OnePlus Nord CE specifications and pricing
The phone has 6.43 inches FHD+ 90hZ Fluid AMOLED display that has a 20:9 aspect ratio and 7.99mm thin making it the thinnest OnePlus phone after the OnePlus 6T. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G processor with Adreno 619 GPU. The phone comes in three options. 6GB/8GB/12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB/256GB of UFS2.1 storage. It comes with OxygenOS based on Android 11 out of the box
For the cameras, the OnePlus Nord CE has a 64MP main camera, 8MP Ultra Wide camera with 119 degrees field of view and 2MP monochrome lens. it can shoot up to 4K videos at 30fps, up to 1080p@30fps slow motion video and up to 4K@30fps of time-lapse. The front features a 16MP which can record 1080p videos at 30fps and 60fps
It has a 4500mAh battery which supports Warp Charge 30T Plus which is just 30W but tweaked to charge 0-70% in just 30minutes. On maters security, the OnePlus Nord CE has under-display fingerprint scanner and also allows the use of the front camera as a face unlock option.
Other features include Dual Nano-sim slot, Dual 5G connectivity, Bluetooth 5.1,NFC, Always On Display, 3.5mm headphone jack
Pricing and Availability
The pricing starts at €299 for the 6GB/128GB variant, €329 for the 8GB/128GB variant and €399 for the 12GB/256GB variant. Approximately, it starts from Ksh 40,000. Sales start June 16 in India. You can expect it here in Kenya by mid July.
