SHIELD has announced a new partnership with Kibera Digital Village (KDV) to nurture tech talent and support entrepreneurial journeys in Kibera. This collaboration will empower youths and creatives in the community by providing them with the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed in the tech industry.

The Social Hub for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Design-Thinking(SHIELD) is a non-profit founded in 2023 to solve the unemployment problem in underserved communities by empowering youths to gain skills, resources, and network to help them solve social problems in their communities through entrepreneurship and digital transformation.

Through this partnership, SHIELD and KDV will co-design and co-implement a range of innovative programs, hackathons, and challenges tailored to Kibera’s youth’s unique needs and talents. These initiatives will not only provide invaluable hands-on experience but will also open doors for participants to break into the tech world.

“We are excited to join forces with Kibera Digital Village to create a platform that nurtures and celebrates the incredible talent in Kibera. This partnership will expand our scope of support for founders, tech talents and creatives in Kibera and help us amplify the impact we are looking to create together for our community. Together, we aim to unlock new opportunities and push the boundaries for our community, paving the way for a brighter future.”

Moreover, this partnership will allow KDV to document and highlight the inspiring stories of Kibera’s entrepreneurs and their impactful projects through visual storytelling. By showcasing these narratives, we aim to amplify the voices of local innovators and inspire others to follow in their footsteps.

“This is one of the best gifts to ever offer a generation of growing talents.
